Indonesia's cotton imports are expensive

The Commissioner of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Embassy in Indonesia recently stated that high cotton prices in the international market have seriously affected Indonesia’s cotton import capacity.

In 2010/11, Indonesia’s cotton imports will fall to 1.848 million bales (0.4 million tons), which is lower than the 2.2 million bales (48 million tons) in 2010/11, and the market share of US cotton is also expected to decline, mainly due to the Strong competition from Australia.
